Slides W9 T4

W.A.L.T: understand division strategies. 

 This week's maths task was to complete the slides given which was a mix of division and times tables. I found it easy to complete the first slide which was times tables warm up. I found it hard to show my understanding. I really enjoyed finishing the slides with my friends. Next time I need to try to complete the slides earlier.

This week's maths task was to create our own maths word problems, to solve them, and add a picture. I found it easy to create maths word problems. I found it hard to think of the problem I wanted to do. I really enjoyed solving the problems. Next time I need to try to use my brain to think of word problems.

 This week's writing task was to create a DLO about Managing self. I found it easy to copy what the whiteboard said. I found it hard to complete the task in the time given. I really enjoyed making this slide with Toya. Next time I need to do better to finish my task in the time given.

This week for our maths task I created 2 maths word problems. I learned that it is not easy to make maths word problems. I enjoyed decorating my slides. I found it challenging to write word problems. Next time I will improve on my word problems by writing more.

Kapa Haka

 W.A.L.T: Perform a Poi.

This week's Kapa Haka lesson was on learning our Poi and singing the song at the same time. I found it easy to watch Olivia do the poi. I found it hard to do some of the actions with the poi. I really enjoyed learning new actions. Next time I need to keep on track with learning the poi.

 W.A.L.T: Understand to find key ideas.

This week's reading task was to finish the articles given. I found it easy to read all the articles given. I found it hard to get over my percentage given. I really enjoyed reading the articles with my friends. Next time I need to try to get a higher percentage.



Multi choice

W.A.L.T: Solve Multi choice word problems. 
 This week's maths was Multi choice problems. I found it easy to write down my working out in my book. I found it hard to work out some of the decimal equations. I really enjoyed trying out these slides for the first time. Next time I need to try get these done faster.

Niue language week 2020

W.A.L.T: Understand Niue language week 2020

This week was Niue language. I found it easy to say some words that we were learning in class. I found it hard to say sentences without forgetting them. I really enjoyed learning about this language and culture. Next time I need to try really hard to get this task done faster.

What is Niue language week about?

Niue Language Week is an opportunity for students to learn, speak, and celebrate the language of Niue, through language, songs, dance, cultural displays, and events.

Why is it important?

It teaches kids and adults about Niuean and more about their culture.

This week's maths task was multi-step word problems. I found it easy to work out the first slide. I found it hard to figure out the end slides. I really enjoyed being done with the slides. Next time I need to try to get my slides done and over with.

This week's writing task was to investigate your environmental problem. I found it easy to choose my environmental problem which is Ocean changes. I found it hard to find the information the slides were asking for. I really enjoyed having the relief of finishing the slide of the day. Next time I need to get the slide of the day done faster.

 This week's maths task was to work out multi-step math word problems. I found it easy to take in all the information given about the task. I found it hard to work out some of the problems. Shake out

 W.A.L.T: Drop, Cover and Hold

This morning we had to learn about what to do in an earthquake and how to keep your head and neck safe by holding onto the legs of the table. If you are not close to a table go to the nearest corner and Drop, Cover and Hold. I found it easy to listen to the instructions given. I found it hard to remember somethings that the teacher told us like "You can go into a door frame and Drop, Cover and Hold". I really enjoyed getting to learn this at school with my teacher and friends. Next time I need to remember to hold onto the legs of my desk.

Shared lunch

 W.A.L.T: Write about what we had and did for shared lunch.

This week is my school's last week of school so lots of class's had their shared lunch my class had our shared lunch on Thursday. For the shared lunch I bought homemade choc chip cookies and I went home with no cookies left so I'm thinking that's a positive thing. My favourite food on the shared lunch table was all the cookies all the people bought.


Tikanga DLO

W.A.L.T: Create a DLO on Tikanga in the classroom and what Tikanga means to you. 

 This week's value was Tikanga and our teacher gave us the task to make a DLO on Tikanga in the classroom. I found it easy to think of what Tikanga in the classroom means to me. I found it hard to make the DLO look nice. I really enjoyed making the slide with friends around helping. Next time I need to post the slide to my blog as soon as I finish the task so it doesn't drag on longer.

 W.A.L.T: Count up all our steps to try to get to 2,777,985 in 24 hours.

This week's homework was on Thursday to get as many steps as possible. I found it easy to walk and walk. I found it hard to count as I walked around the school. I really enjoyed having a good result which was 3,161. Next time I need to bring my Fitbit and not forget it.

This week's task was to post 3 blog comments. I found it easy to write comments. I found it hard to get it posted the first time I showed the teacher. I really enjoyed making people happy with the comments I wrote. Next time I need to try harder to make sure I get all 3 blog comments done during the week.

This week's task was to read about ocean changes and write down key information. I found it easy to read the passage. I found it hard to find the author's names. I really enjoyed having the relief of being done. Next time I need to remember the key information.



Te Wiki o Te Reo 2020

 W.A.L.T: Understand Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori.

We were learning about Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori. I found it easy to translate simple words. I found it hard to say long Maori words. I really enjoyed getting to learn new Maori words. Next time I need to try harder to get this task finished in the time given.

Constable Mat

 W.A.L.T: Be safe.

Today we had Constable Mat come in and talk to us about safety around roads and when you are home alone. I found it easy to listen and write at the same time. I found it hard to come up with ideas. I really enjoyed learning about how to be safe when you are home alone.

Haters and Trolls

W.A.L.T:  Be smart if something happens online that we don't like.

This week's Cybersmart task was to watch some videos about being kind online. I had it go onto poster my wall and create a poster about Haters and Trolls. I found it easy to make the poster. I found it hard to remember the order of steps of what to do if you come across Haters and Trolls. I really enjoyed making my poster with Karere. Next time I need to add more detail.

Tongan language week 2020

W.A.L.T: Translate English words into Tongan words.

This week we have been learning about Tongan language week. Today we had to go around the school,  find 5 objects and translate these words from English to Tongan. I found it hard to translate the words. Next time I could try and get this task done faster.

This week's task for reading was to read about Deforestation and find the key information. I had to fill out a sheet of what I learned about Deforestation. I found it easy to read the information. It was a little harder to put the key information into the boxes. It was fun to read the article with my friends.

Multi-step word problems

W.A.L.T: Solve Multi-step word problems. 

This week's maths task was to complete these maths slides. My favourite part of these slides was working out the math problems with my friends. I think I could work on getting the slides done faster. I found it easy to work out the first 4 slides then they got harder. 

Mapere planting

W.A.L.T: Write about our Mapere planting experience.

Today rooms 5,7 and 11 walked to Mapere to plant Spinifex and Flax. We went to Mapere to try and help our environment and the sand dunes restoration programme. We planted Spinifex to stop erosion. In my group were Ms Peters(Group leader) (Group) Haley, Laila, Marangi, and me. The total of all the plants that we planted was 750 Spinifex and Flax. My favourite part was having fun at the beach with friends and helping to save our sand dunes. We also had a sausage sizzle that was good. I just can't wait until we do this next year!

Build a blog comment

W.A.L.T: TO COMMENT ON OUR CLASS BLOG

This week for cyber smart Whaea Deb gave as a fridge that had magnets on the side and we had to drag the magnets onto the fridge to make a blog comment.

I found it easy to make the greeting.

I found it difficult to think of a question.

I really enjoyed dragging the magnets on to the fridge.

Next time I need to add more detail.



Matariki and the southern lights

W.A.L.T: Recreate Matariki and the southern lights. 

 For a few weeks, our task was to recreate Matariki and the southern lights. I really enjoyed this task. I think next time I could work on keeping it more tidy. 

 1. The first step was to rip a brown piece of paper to create the mountains and stick it down with some tape. 

2. Use white paint and flicked it onto your paper so it creates some stars. Let dry for your next step. 

 3. Get soft pastels to choose your colors carefully. Put the soft pastel colors on your brown paper then smudge onto your black piece of paper.

 4.Mark all the stars on your paper lightly with a pencil. 

 5. Mix together white and a little yellow together, then go over your pencil marks with the paint.

 6. The last step takes off the brown piece of paper and there you go Matariki and the southern lights.

Fraction word problems

WALT: Solve Fraction maths word problems. 
 
This week our task was to solve this fraction word problems. I liked working with my group to try to get the answer. I would like to work on getting all of my slides done. This task was hard at the start then got easier for me.

W.A.L.T: write an interesting script.

For a week Karere and I have been working on creating this script and been really thinking about it. I enjoyed getting creative with it and coming up with lines and character names. I think I could work on writing a script faster so Karere and I have more time with our team to work on the filming part of it.

Voice over- Starfire and DJ Yoda are in the kitchen trying to make two-minute noodles.

Starfire- WOW! These noodles are so hard to make.

DJ Yoda- Yeah maybe, we should go to that noodle shop.

Voice over- As they walked to the noodle shop they saw that there were not many people anywhere, and if they did those people were wearing masks.

Spongebob enters the scene.

Spongebob- Why are you guys not wearing your masks.

Starfire- What masks!

DJ Yoda- Is masks what you are wearing right now.

Spongebob- Wait, you guys don’t know what masks are, it’s like you guys don’t know anything!

Voice over- As they stay in one spot they keep thinking about what masks are.

Spongebob leaves scene

Starfire- Those things are like wearing fabric on your face.

Starfire- I will search it up on my iPhone 11.

DJ Yoda- no I have the better iPhone mine is an iPhone 4 so let me search it up.

Starfire- Fine I won’t let you search it up. 

Voice over - DJ Yoda looks sad at Starfire.

DJ Yoda- K since I am nice.

Voice over - DJ Yoda searches up face masks.

DJ Yoda- masks are the things that cover your mouth and nose.

August enters the scene

August - Why are you guys not wearing your masks, there is coronavirus going around and you guys are highly going to get coronavirus.

Both looking at August strangely! 

Starfire- What coronavirus?

Krusty Kat enters the scene.

Krusty Kat- Its 2020 coronavirus is here.

DJ Yoda- First of all its 1876 and secondly there is no 

coronavirus.

King and Queen COVID 19 enter the scene.

K&Q- HAHAHA we are going to give you the virus.

Starfire-what virus!

August- RUN!

They all run away in fear!

As the virus starts laughing.

Monica enters the scene.

Monica talks to Starfire and DJ Yoda

Monica- It seems you guys have time-traveled from 1876 to 2020 and you don’t know about the virus.

Starfire - I think that is what happened.

Monica - I shall send you back to your non-Coronavirus time.

Script

W.A.L.T: Write a script for a movie.
 This week for writing Karere and I have been working on our script. I think that this task is really fun to do. I think that maybe next time we could be more organized with our ideas. This is not done yet.

Voice over-Starfire and DJ Yoda are in the kitchen trying to make two-minute noddles.

Starfire-WOW! These noddles are so hard to make.

DJ Yoda-Yeah maybe, we should go to that noddle shop.

Voice over-As they walked to the noddle shop they saw that there were not many people anywhere, and if they did those people were wearing masks.

Spongebob entres the scene.

Spongebob-Why are you guys not wearing your masks.

Starfire-What masks!

DJ Yoda-Is masks what you are wearing right now.

Peer pressure

W.A.L.T: Find key information. 
For this week I did reading on peer pressure. First writing what we knew about peer pressure than writing down 6 questions that I have about peer pressure, reading a text about peer pressure, and answer the questions we have. I think next time I should try to add more detail to my questions and answers.

This week for maths I did counting forwards and backwards in ones. This activity was simple. Here is an example of my work backwards, 73 005 to 73 004 forwards, 14 985 to 14 986. My favourite part of this week's maths was the counting part when I counted backwards or forwards in ones.

Counting to 10 000

W.A.L.T: count to 10 000

Every day after I did my math warm-ups which are extra maths and prototec. I did this numeracy page which is, join the dots by putting these numbers up to 10 000 in order. I did a crab in a bottle and a cat one. Personally, my favourite is the crab in the bottle.
My focus was to make a cat and a crab and my next focus is to get the picture and number in two goes.
For example, I went from 1010 to 1993.

I have learned that when Moctezuma /the leader wanted to walk nobles laid mats on the ground so he would not dirty his golden sandals.

This week I have been reading and learning about the Aztecs.

Here are some things that I learned
I have learned that the Aztecs wandered the land setting up temporary homes here and they are fighting off attackers and surviving on snakes and lizards. 

I also learned that the Aztecs were once a nomadic tribe.nomadic/living the life.

My speech 2020

Why I believe pets deserve the same care as humans.

Hello, my name is Kyvana and today I am going to talk to you about
why I believe pets deserve the same care as humans.

But first here are some jokes 
What did the dog do after he swallowed a firefly?
He barked with de-light.

Why aren't leopards any good at hide in seek?
Because they are always spotted

What do you get from a pampered cow?
Spoiled milk.

Firstly I believe pets deserve the same care as humans
because we all are animals and so we should be treated the same.
Think about it we all feel hungry, get thirsty, and feel pain.
For example, pets get hungry, tired and they get hurt just like us.
If hurting people is wrong because they feel pain.
Then hurting pets must be wrong because they also feel pain.
Also because we are all animals we all deserve the same level of respect.
We all, humans and pets deserve respect and to be treated fairly.

Secondly, pets have really short lives so with the limited time they have they
should be able to enjoy their lives. I believe this means that pets deserve the
same care as humans. They shouldn’t be in cages they should be out
exploring like how we like to get out of the house.

Pets can not speak English, they have no voice.
So since we can’t understand what our pets are saying,
we have to speak for them and speak up for them if they need our help.
Because pets cannot help themselves.

In Conclusion here are my reasons why I think
pets deserve the same care as humans, pets are living things,
take care of your pets! Thank you so much for listening to my speech on
